The department of Social Cohesion, Stabilization and Reintegration implements programmes that
cover an array of targeted, context-specific peacebuilding interventions in the Northwest and
Northeast regions of Nigeria. Through sustained interactions with community stakeholders, we
assess socio-economic and community reintegration needs, making informed decisions about the
most effective entry points for our interventions and influencing a context-sensitive communitywide
approach in the design of our programmes.
Our efforts aimed at prevention of violent extremism, are reflected across our programmes through
our focus on building responsive communities. We have worked with various community
stakeholders across the BAY states (Borno, Adamawa and Yobe) to build capacity on the signs of
radicalization and currently implement an Early Warning and Early Response system, that has
helped in identifying and addressing potential manifestations of radicalization in these
communities.
