The Senior Researcher will be responsible for conducting detailed research, writing, and correspondence for Neem Foundation and arm of Neem Group. S/he will monitor and respond to developments under related assigned portfolios. S/He will report to the Programme Manager Policy, Education and Research. The position requires close coordination and work with other researchers, communications staff, and management. S/he should possess strong research, analytical, and writing skills; is highly motivated, organised, and detail-oriented; can work with a team and under significant time pressure.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver research goals against Neem’s roadmap, ensure execution against the goals and timelines.
- Conduct research to the highest academic and industry standards. This involves a scientifically rigorous approach to research.
- Produce high-level background and technical guidance documents of a quality similar to an academic or industry journal for publishing.
- Prepare reports, including statistical analysis of research information for projects.
- Provide support to the department and external consultants in all aspects of the role, specifically as it relates to project administration
- Take responsibility for the sourcing, assimilation and presentation of key information through desk research on the different department projects.
- Participate in webinars, conferences, and other opportunities for sharing of research findings.
- Support senior management with op-ed research and writing for mass consumption.
- Attend internal strategy and staff meetings, including research meetings with collaborate programmatic departments.
- Ability to collect, measure, organise and analyze data.
- Deliver high quality work in conjunction with all departments where required and in line with agreed personal targets in order to adhere to donors/funders deadlines.
- Undertake training, where required, in the use of software systems, i.e. SPSS, NVIVO and contribute to the preparation of documents using PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Liaise with all departments to provide summary reports and stories that feed into the quarterly impact reports, newsletters etc.
Minimum Requirements
- Graduate degree preferably a PhD in economics, statistics, mathematics, anthropology, or any field related to International Relations, Politics, International Development or Social-Sciences.
- 3-4 years’ experience in data analysis, research and high-level report writing or project implementation with an NGO, research institution, or development body (donor, UN agencies, development agencies).
- Proficiecy in statistics and statistical packages like Excel, SPSS, NVIVO, R, SAS to be used for data set analyzing
- Knowledge of data visualization software like Tableau, Qlik
- Able to work as part of a team, but also on own initiative and without direct supervision.
- Good report writing and presentation composing skills (including the use of Office 365 and Google Workspace).
